Now, deep breath… and let it all go.

Top 5 Favorite Arshi Fanfics
1. Emerald Isle Tales by Meera (Oh the tales she weaves… shear magic at those finger tips. My heart, my heart.)
2. Before the Last Sun Set by Munchy (Gangster Arnav.)
3. Perfection by Napstermonster (Doesn’t even matter that it’s not complete…. utterly gorgeous PERFECTION.)
4. Khushi by Maya (If there is one fanfic that can and should replace the original- it would be this tale crafted with tender care and imbrued with delightful insight into the very soul of Arnav and Khushi.
5. Love~Life~Labyrinth by Eccentrica (Poignant writing with one hell of a plot carried out my a specular cast of characters. Delicious.)
The Book that Made Me Fall in Love with Reading
6. Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. As English was my second language, I used to struggle and dreaded reading. But after my 3rd grade teacher read this to our class, I was so enthralled; books became the most treasured of friends from that point on.

11. My health. As cliché as it may be, you really can’t do much if you’re not healthy in mind, body and spirit.
12. Zoom. Being so far from my family and friends was especially tough this year. This allowed many of us to connect and spy on each other’s questionable décor :p

Favorite Drama (cannot be IPKKND!)
20. The Untamed (this changes every year, but a Chinese drama depicting the epic love story between two gorgeous heroes captured my heart and kept me sane this year. *On Netflix should you be interested*
My New Year Resolution
21. To be more patient with myself. We are definitely too harsh on ourselves and if this year taught me anything… one’s mental health should always be a high priority.

Give me a holler the moment you’re done so we may exchange our scholarly findings. I also devoured the fan translation of the novel.
LikeLiked by 2 people
yep, it will be up on the blog. there are 3 versions of the novel: a) raw – the original b) the edited c) the published. I am reading (on the side, very slowly) the edited version and i see that this is very close to netflix subtitles. Next I want to watch on Vikii and read the published version. And hunt for the almost lost raw version of the text. Its now a fucking project.

If you’re a fan of PNR – Suzanne Wright’s Dark in You series is a must! Followed closely by Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series. So much Y.U.M.

I love HoO. Kaleb’s devotion to his love (trying not to put spoilers) was absolutely beautiful. I love how Russian scientists in that world are often confused about the sudden abnormal seismic activity in the region, oh if only they knew hahaha.
I do love PNR. Sadly, Suzanne Wright didn’t work out for me. I did enjoy her first couple shifter books when I was dipping my toe in the genre. I’ll move the Elder Races up my TBR, now that you recommended it.

Heh heh, yes those poor scientists. 😛
Wright’s humor either works for you or is a total turn off. HOWEVER, I promise the Dark in You is a completely different animal. Just give the first book a good college try. 😀

Top 5 Favorite Arshi Fanfics – I’ll warn before I list that they are going to be pretty sparse because I have been a terribly inconsistent reader this year. Also I’m considering these top 5 of THIS year only because otherwise we’ll be here forever.
1. All the OSs by Bingala (Is this cheating? Yes. Do I care? No 😛 Also I bugged her into coming back to write for IPK so I feel it’s only fair)
2. When the Curtain Falls by Palaayan (She puts up with my constant needling on where this story is going because I am too impatient to wait for her to write it :P)
3. Second Chances by Mirabell (She’s rewriting this story and I have insider info you don’t, muhahahaha)
4. Traveller by Jigs (Currently on-hold but it’s a story I lived through vicariously)
5. Mohobbat Door Jaane Na De by -doe.eyes- (I reread this one this year when I first fell back down the rabbit-hole and it still hits just as hard)
The Book that Made Me Fall in Love with Reading
6. Beartown by Frederik Backman (This man’s writing is magic and I broke my own rule of never marking up a book and started highlighting my favorite quotes and scribbling up notes on the page edges when I read it)
Top 3 Favorite Published Authors
7. Frederik Backman (See above)
8. Leigh Bardugo (Fantasy done well. I love her pacing and how she weaves humor into stories.)
9. Mariana Zapata (Best romance writer imo, focuses more on characters and relationship building and less on unending sex)
Favorite IPKKND Character
10. NK, do you even have to ask?
This Year, I Was Most Grateful For
11. Friends & Zoom Calls – I would not have survived the year intact without them (Special shoutout to S and Bingala)
12. Rediscovering IPK Fandom – It gave me back writing, reading, brought me new experiences like podcasting and just made me remember being young again
Favorite Midnight Snack
13. Jalapeno Chips

14. Plain Water, lol
Top 3 Dream Destinations
15. Toronto – I want to go to a hockey game there
16. Paris – I want to visit all the museums
17. Someplace in a beach house with friends
My Favorite Person
18. Ri Jeong Hyeok….you’ll see why below (Psych…but I can’t between all the friends!)
Favorite Movie
19. Tu Hai Mera Sunday – I watched it for the first time this year!!! And it’s one of the few things that can make me smile so fucking goofily every time. And in 2020, that’s a miracle in itself.
Favorite Drama (cannot be IPKKND!)
20. Crash Landing on You – When I say this show had everything I want in a show I am not even exaggerating: found family, sexy second pairing, perfect comedic timing, romance, drama, amazing costuming, production, writing and direction and ACTING. I finished watching it last night and I am already thinking about a re-watch. One of the main protagonists, Ri Jeong Hyeok, has ruined men for me forever because no one else will ever measure up.
My New Year Resolution

I have been a silent reader for FWN, but I shamelessly confess that I have read it multiple times before…some parts more than others. I joined the IPK train quite late, but this one was one of my first few FFs and it will always be dear to me.
My inner self sniggered when I wrote that resolution. So, yeah. That ain’t gonna happen.
No particular reason for Switzerland. I always wanted to visit Kashmir & Switzerland, even as a kid. So it’s always on the bucket list.

Tagore has such a beautiful way of connecting words and thoughts. One of my favorites from him is definitely – “Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”

I can’t even pin point on any one favourite quote.. there are so many.. his words are simple and he had a way of putting together difficult thoughts in simple words.. btw I’ve always felt translation snatches some of the magic that the original carries.. if you ever learn Bengali, try reading his original works in Bengali.. his pen was surely mightier than the sword!😍

I realized that I learn fastest by mugging up good songs from these languages or binging tv shows again and again. Remember the dialogues, remember the subs. Go from there. Living in those countries helped too, not gonna lie.

Top 5 Favorite Arshi Fanfics
These are some of the ones I have been lucky to savour. I am sure there are gems out there which I have not yet discovered. I wasn’t really active on IF. So, here goes….
1. Emerald Isle Tales – Meera weaves magic with her words. I would read anything and everything she pens (or taps on the keyboard). She could post her grocery list and I would read it with sighs and dreamy eyes. EIT to me is one of the best pieces of fiction ever written. Not to mention the music, which is so integral to Meera’s stories.
2. Temptation and TT by Jigs – Such an emotional journey. Khushi overcoming a painful past and her insecurities, reaching out for her happiness, growing as a person. One of the best-designed blogs. Jigs has a way with choosing her banners. And the vocabulary. Gosh, the woman made sure that I had the thesaurus handy while reading every chapter.
3. FWN – My Captain and Professor and their beautiful tale of Love, passion, seduction, bromance, my Parrot, Robbie …. Wonderful character build-up. The story grips the reader with every night. Plus, one of the best epilogues. Am I waxing poetic? But, their story is that brilliant. Sending hugs, Capt and Prof ❤
4. Finding Khushi by Smitar – The story that marked my foray into the Arshi fanfiction readership. And, this story has Anamika. And, it forged a hamesha wali friendship with the author. Love you, Smi.
5. Khushi by MayaHill – The way the redemption track should have been. Arnav finally using his Harvard groomed shaatir dimaag and figuring out Khushi’s innocence. Khushi growing both as a person and as an entrepreneur.
The Book that Made Me Fall in Love with Reading
6. The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Doyle ❤ I was ten. Couldn’t quite comprehend 19th century English but was enamored by the vivid characters of Holmes and Watson. Conan Doyle's writing, direct, philosophical. Who can forget, "when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth". And, Watson's narratives. Aah, the way they try to unravel the many layers of Holmes' character.

Glowworm Caves, New Zealand – Gah I’m so jealous! What else did you get to explore in NZ?
What happened to Kristen Ashley?! S and I had a ragey fest after reading the ending to the Chaos series. I can’t even try any of her new series, all the quirky vs alphaholeness is no more, we’re left with this soulless drivel that chiseled away at all the good memories.

Hi I believe it’s still on going
She had introduce a new character with the Gray shade I believe salim naqvi. Two marriages had just taken place and are our hero was attacked on his way to his wedding and I believe last episode that she posted was where Shyam was killed in the jail which was arranged by Aman and there was lot to be unraveled about ms.khan and Aman equation

She has listed it as complete on her site, and only two of her complete stories are available for reading currently, one of which is Khushi. You can check the link below
http://mayahill.com/read/
You are talking about Jalebi, that is where Aman’s girl friend is Parisa Khan (If I got the name correct). That is not complete. In Khushi Aman is married to a girl named Pari.

And then she talked about the fan fictions and I was like, what is that. That was my first entry into this world. She referred me to your website and I have just begun making my way through the various suggestions. And I have to admit- some of the work really is exceptional- Publish worthy. Thank you for creating this website and keeping the memories of the show alive. Reading these FFs is making me want to revisit the show. And honestly some of these stories are far better than the show itself. A big hats off to these authors who decided to share some wonderful stories with us.
Happy New Year!
